Game Eight: Marion, IL 9, Greensboro, NC 1

Marion, IL well-represented as the Area Host in their first game of the Colt World Series, beating Greensboro, NC 9-1.

Marion got on the board first, scoring on a fielder’s choice.

In the second, another fielder’s choice made it a 2-0 game. A triple by Cruz Harlan increased their lead, with a fourth run coming from an error.

Marion kept the scoring going in the bottom of the third inning. They scored on three singles, followed by a run on a fielder’s choice and an error on a fly out to make it a 9-0 game.

Greensboro’s only run of the night came from a single in the top of the fourth.

Neither team scored in the fifth or sixth inning, and Greensboro was unable to score enough in the top of the seventh, making the final score 9-1.
