Simi Valley, CA Falls To Tijuana, Mexico C16 After Big Fifth Inning

Tijuana, Mexico used an eight-run fifth inning to pull away for a 10-1 victory over Simi Valley, CA on Saturday at Mtn Dew Park.

Tijuana, Mexico opened the scoring in the first inning after Owen Ball induced Marlon Melendrez to hit into a fielder's choice, allowing one run to score.

Simi Valley, CA answered in the top of the second when Dylan Ferguson grounded into a double play, bringing home the tying run to make it 1-1.

Tijuana, Mexico regained the lead in the bottom of the second as Christian Lozano singled to score a run, giving his team a 2-1 advantage.

Ball got the start for Simi Valley, CA, allowing seven hits and eight runs (seven earned) over four innings while striking out one and walking two. Oliver Gutiérrez started for Tijuana, Mexico C16 and tossed a complete seven innings, giving up six hits and one run while striking out seven and walking one.

Connor Barwick led Simi Valley, CA at the plate, finishing 2-for-2 with two hits. Simi Valley also turned one double play in the contest.

Austria Falls Despite Strong Effort From Marion, IL

Austria couldn't keep pace with Marion, IL, falling 10-2 on Friday at Oasis Sports Complex in Marion, Illinois.

Marion, IL struck first in the opening inning when Haiden Lange doubled to drive in the game's first run.

Austria answered in the bottom of the first as Jan Scholik lined a single down the left field line, bringing home the tying run.

Marion, IL reclaimed the lead in the second inning after Dax Randolph singled down the left field line, Jack Dodson added an RBI single, and Hayden Harriss was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded, each bringing in a run.

A triple by Randolph and a wild pitch in the third inning helped Marion, IL build on its early advantage.

Oskar Waldegg pitched four and one-third innings in relief for Austria, allowing five hits and four runs (three earned) while striking out three and walking two. Mortiz Amon started for Austria and surrendered five hits and six runs (three earned) over two and two-thirds innings, recording one strikeout and four walks. Fisher Watts got the start for Marion, IL, giving up two hits and one run in two and one-third innings while striking out four and walking two.

Samuel Popp, Tobias Schwarzenecker, and Scholik each collected two hits for Austria. Popp and Scholik each drove in a run, while Nils Rubik swiped two bases.

Marion, IL finished with 10 hits. Randolph and Dodson each drove in two runs, while Dodson led the offense with a 4-for-4 performance at the plate. Lange added two hits in three at-bats. Randolph, Landon Boyd, and Dodson each stole multiple bases, and Marion, IL showed patience at the plate by drawing six walks while finishing with 10 stolen bases.

Welcome To The Colt World Series

The city of Marion, IL and Mtn. Dew Park will again host the 2026 COLT World Series July 31 - August 4, 2026.

Now in its 73rd year, the Colt World Series is PONY Baseball's second-longest running World Series event. It is a ten-team tournament consisting of two, five-team double-elimination brackets, as well as ninth and tenth place games. The ten teams will be:

- Four (4) from the continental United States, with one each hailing from the West, East, South and North Zones

- Four (4) international teams, including one each from the Asia-Pacific, European, Mexican, and Caribbean regions

- One (1) area host team from Southern Illinois

- One (1) city host team from Marion, Illinois
