Game 5 Day 2

Austria Falls To Bay County, MI

Austria couldn't keep pace with Bay County, MI, falling 12-4 on Saturday at Mtn Dew Park.


Bay County, MI got on the board in the top of the first inning after Dakota Inda stole home, Maks Terrill singled to center field, and Stephan Rogers singled down the left field line, with each play bringing home a run.


Bay County, MI added another run in the third inning when Carter Bublitz laid down a sacrifice bunt.


Bay County, MI broke the game open with five runs on four hits in the top of the fifth. Inda drew a bases-loaded walk to score a run, an error brought home another, Brooks Boon singled in two runs, and Rogers added an RBI single.


Alexander Horvath got the start for Austria, allowing five hits and seven runs (four earned) over three and two-thirds innings while striking out three and walking four. Kyle Howard started for Bay County, MI, surrendering four hits and four runs over five and one-third innings with four strikeouts and five walks.


Leadoff hitter Nils Rubik paced Austria with two hits in three at-bats. Jan Luca Moczkowski, Samuel Popp, and Rubik each drove in one run, while Tobias Schwarzenecker drew a team-high two walks. Austria showed patience at the plate, finishing the game with eight walks.


Bay County, MI totaled 12 hits in the victory. Terrill led the offense with three hits in four at-bats, while Rogers, Boon, and Robert Brown each drove in two runs. Cam Pease added two hits in three at-bats, Tyson Cwiklinski worked three walks, and Inda stole two bases.

Simi Valley, CA Falls To Tijuana, Mexico After Big Fifth Inning

Tijuana, Mexico used an eight-run fifth inning to pull away for a 10-1 victory over Simi Valley, CA on Saturday at Mtn Dew Park.

Tijuana, Mexico got on the board in the first inning after Owen Ball induced Marlon Melendrez to hit into a fielder's choice, allowing one run to score.


Simi Valley, CA answered in the top of the second when Dylan Ferguson grounded into a double play, bringing home the tying run to make it 1-1.


Tijuana, Mexico regained the lead in the bottom of the second as Christian Lozano singled to score a run, giving his team a 2-1 advantage.


Tijuana, Mexico broke the game open in the fifth, plating eight runs on seven hits. Bryan Espinoza singled in a run, Héctor Zambrano doubled to score another, Xavier Beltrán doubled home two runs, Emiliano Contreras added a sacrifice fly, Jesús López drew a bases-loaded walk, and Espinoza later delivered another single that drove in two more runs.


Ball got the start for Simi Valley, CA, allowing seven hits and eight runs (seven earned) over four innings while striking out one and walking two. Oliver Gutiérrez started for Tijuana, Mexico and tossed a complete seven innings, giving up six hits and one run while striking out seven and walking one.


Connor Barwick led Simi Valley, CA at the plate, finishing 2-for-2 with two hits. Simi Valley, CA also turned one double play in the contest.


Tijuana, Mexico totaled 10 hits in the win. Leadoff hitter Espinoza went 3-for-4 to lead the offense, while Lozano added two hits in two at-bats. Tijuana, Mexico also turned two double plays and played error-free defense, with Melendrez recording a team-high eight defensive chances.
