Bronx, NY Edges Southern Illinois With Late-Game Win

Bronx, NY earned a 2-1 victory over Southern Illinois on Tuesday, scoring the go-ahead run late at Mtn Dew Park. With the game tied at one in the bottom of the sixth inning, Roldany Vasquez drew a bases-loaded walk to bring home the winning run.

Pitching dominated throughout the contest. Bronx pitchers recorded one strikeout, while Southern Illinois staff finished with five.

Bronx opened the scoring in the bottom of the fourth after a wild pitch allowed the game's first run to score.

Southern Illinois answered in the fifth when Gavin Johnson hit a solo home run to center field, evening the score at 1-1.

Jhanley Rodriguez got the start for Bronx, NY and tossed a complete game, allowing five hits and one run over seven innings while striking out one and issuing no walks. Jace Smothers started for Southern Illinois, surrendering four hits and one run over four and two-thirds innings with five strikeouts and four walks.

Anthony Basilio, batting seventh in the lineup, led Bronx with two hits in three at-bats. Bronx showed patience at the plate, drawing seven walks, with Deiry Bodre and Yeidry Suarez each collecting two. Bronx also played error-free defense, with Bodre leading the team with 10 defensive chances.

Johnson finished 1-for-2 with Southern Illinois' lone RBI on his solo homer. Jaxon Hudson, Brady Whorton, Johnson, Bronx Hefner, and Jace Hampton each recorded one hit. Southern Illinois also played a clean game defensively, with Lathan Parrish leading the team with seven defensive chances.

Jack Dodson Leads Marion, IL Past Bronx, NY

Jack Dodson collected three hits in three at-bats to lead Marion, IL to a 12-3 victory over Bronx, NY on Tuesday at Mtn Dew Park. Dodson recorded singles in the first, fourth, and sixth innings to pace the offense.

Bronx, NY opened the scoring in the bottom of the second inning after Dabrick DeJesus drew a walk and Tommy Paulino lifted a sacrifice fly, with each driving in a run.

Marion answered in the top of the third, reclaiming the lead after Haiden Lange singled down the left field line, Kruz Koester tripled, and Hayden Harriss added a sacrifice fly, with each play bringing home a run.

Fisher Watts tossed four innings of relief for Marion, allowing five hits and one run while striking out four and walking three. Brayden Bethel started for Marion, surrendering one hit and two runs (one earned) over two innings with one strikeout and three walks. Deiry Bodre got the start for Bronx, NY, giving up four hits and three runs across three innings while striking out one and walking two.

Marion finished with 11 hits in the win. Lange drove in a team-high three runs while going 2-for-3 at the plate. Koester and Landon Boyd each collected multiple hits. Marion also showed patience at the plate, drawing nine walks, with Dodson, Lange, and Harriss each collecting two. Dodson stole four bases as Marion swiped six bases overall and turned one double play.



Matthew Lora drove in one run for Bronx, NY, while Bryan Cuevas led the team with two hits in two at-bats. Bodre drew two walks as Bronx finished with six walks, and the defense turned one double play.
