Game Thirteen: Monterrey, MX 4, Marion, IL 5
Marion, IL beats Monterrey, MX 5-4 in a come-from-behind game.
Monterrey scored first at the end of the first inning on an error to make it a 1-0 game.
After two scoreless innings, Monterrey increased their lead to 2-0. Their second run of the game was scored on a single in the bottom of the fourth.
Marion tied the game in the top of the fifth inning. A line drive triple by Cruz Harlan broke Marion’s dry spell. Harlan was brought in on a single to tie the game at 2-2.
In the bottom of the fifth, Monterrey reclaimed the lead on a single with a 3-2 score.
Marion’s offense had a strong showing in the top of the seventh inning. A sacrifice fly ball by Ethan Golish brought in the tying run. Later, a single brought in two runs to take a 5-3 lead.
Monterrey had the bottom of the seventh to get back out ahead of Marion. They scored on an error by Marion’s left fielder, but Marion’s defense was able to stop Monterrey, winning 5-4.
