Championship Game

Southern Illinois - 2, Youngstown, Ohio - 0

Both teams were strong on the mound on Wednesday, but Southern Illinois was just a little bit stronger at the plate in their 2-0 victory over Youngstown, Ohio. Dawson Wallace started the game for Youngstown, Ohio and recorded 21 outs.

Southern Illinois got on the board in the first inning after Aaron Sheffer doubled, scoring one run.

Wallace led things off on the bump for Youngstown, Ohio. They allowed four hits and two runs (one earned) over seven innings, striking out five and walking two. Brady Phillips led things off on the hill for Southern Illinois. They surrendered three hits and zero runs over five and one-third innings, striking out three and walking three.

Logan Cypher went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Youngstown, Ohio in hits. Youngstown, Ohio turned one double play in the game.

Reece Anthony, Sheffer, Logan Ingle, and Drew Barrington each collected one hit for Southern Illinois. Sheffer and Ingle each drove in one run for Southern Illinois. Southern Illinois turned two double plays in the game. Southern Illinois were sure-handed in the field and didn't commit a single error. Talan Nemeth had the most chances in the field with seven.

Congratulations to both, Southern Illinois and Youngstown for making it to this year's Colt League World Series.

Game Seventeen

Youngstown, Ohio - 10, Chiba, Japan - 3

Dawson Wallace drove in four runs on four hits to lead Youngstown, Ohio past Chiba Japan 10-3 on Tuesday. Wallace singled in the sixth scoring two, singled in the first scoring one, and singled in the seventh scoring one.

Youngstown, Ohio got on the board in the first inning after Wallace singled, scoring one run.

Youngstown, Ohio added one run in the second. Jacob Rynd singled, making the score 2-0.

A single by Chandler Maurice extended the Youngstown, Ohio lead to 3-0 in the top of the third inning.

Carson Klase stepped on the hill first for Youngstown, Ohio. They gave up five hits and three runs (two earned) over six innings, striking out three and walking two. Hanuki Dan started on the hill for Chiba Japan. They gave up five hits and three runs (two earned) over two and one-third innings, striking out none and walking one. Cameron Huff tossed one inning of shutout ball for Youngstown, Ohio in relief. They surrendered one hit, striking out none and walking none.

Youngstown, Ohio collected 12 hits in the game. Maurice and Wallace were tough to handle back-to-back in the lineup, as each drove in four runs for Youngstown, Ohio. Anthony Triveri collected two hits for Youngstown, Ohio in five at bats. Tanner Stricko led Youngstown, Ohio with two walks. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, collecting seven walks for the game. Youngstown, Ohio turned one double play in the game.

So Fujita went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Chiba Japan in hits. Rea Matsumoto and Yuunosuke Furugen each drove in one run for Chiba Japan.

Youngstown will move on to play in the 2023 Colt League World Series Championship Game against Southern Illinois tonight at 7:00pm

Game Sixteen

Southern Illinois - 10, Paderborn, Germany - 3

Nick Hubbard collected four hits in five at bats, as Southern Illinois defeated Paderborn, Germany 10-3 on Monday. Hubbard singled in the third inning, singled in the sixth inning, singled in the fifth inning, and singled in the seventh inning.

Paderborn, Germany opened the scoring in the first after Alessandro Carrasquilla hit a sacrifice fly, scoring one run.

Southern Illinois flipped the game on its head in the top of the third, scoring five runs on four hits to take a 5-1 lead. The biggest blow in the inning was a single by Hubbard that drove in two.

Gavin Holloman started on the bump for Southern Illinois. They surrendered three hits and three runs over five innings, striking out three and walking four. Bullman Matthias stepped on the bump first for Paderborn, Germany. The starting pitcher gave up four hits and five runs (four earned) over three innings, striking out one and walking one. Randy Fuqua tossed two innings of scoreless ball for Southern Illinois in relief. They gave up two hits, striking out four and walking two.

Southern Illinois collected 15 hits in the game. Gavyn Harrell, Nolan Causey, and Drew Barrington each collected multiple hits for Southern Illinois. Southern Illinois didn't commit a single error in the field. Talan Nemeth had the most chances in the field with eight.

Kenny Fermin Giere and Jona Wildmann were a force together in the lineup, as they each collected two hits for Paderborn, Germany. Carrasquilla drove the middle of the lineup, leading Paderborn, Germany with three runs batted in. The number three hitter went 1-for-3 on the day. Paderborn, Germany had a strong eye at the plate, accumulating six walks for the game. Fermin Giere and Domenic Rauwolf led the team with two free passes each.

Southern Illinois will move on to the 2023 Colt League World Series Championship Game against Youngstown, Ohio tonight at 7:00pm.

Game Fifteen

Chiba, Japan - 4, Marion, Illinois - 2

Chiba Japan were victorious against Marion, Illinois 4-2 on Monday.

Marion, Illinois were the first to get on the board in the first when Jack Harre hit a sacrifice fly, scoring one run.

Chiba Japan took the lead, 4-1, in the top of the sixth thanks to singles by Touma Sasaki, Toranosuke Kuranami, and Youta Inoue.

So Fujita started the game for Chiba Japan. The starting pitcher gave up two hits and one run (zero earned) over five innings, striking out five and walking one. Connor DeWeerdt stepped on the mound first for Marion, Illinois. They allowed seven hits and four runs over five and two-thirds innings, striking out two and walking three. Kousuke Singaki appeared in relief for Chiba Japan.

Inoue, the number eight hitter for Chiba Japan, led the way with two runs batted in. The infielder went 1-for-3 on the day. Ryunosuke Kanatani, Sasaki, Yuunosuke Furugen, Rea Matsumoto, Kuranami, Asuki Toyonaga, and Inoue each collected one hit for Chiba Japan.

Will True went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Marion, Illinois in hits. Harre and Noah Nix were a one-two punch in the lineup, as each drove in one run for Marion, Illinois. Marion, Illinois turned one double play in the game.

Chiba will move on to play Youngstown, Ohio in Game Seventeen tonight at 8:00pm. Marion has been eliminated from the 2023 Colt League World Series

Game Fourteen

Paderborn, Germany - 10, Brownsville, Texas - 9

Paderborn, DE defeated Brownsville, TX ,10-9 in Game Thirteen of the 2023 Colt League World Series. Paderborn held a 6-run lead in the fifth and battled off a comeback effort from Brownsville. 

Paderborn scored in the first inning off a Owen Fierlbeck single, driving in one run. Brownsville answered back with Jeremiah Vela and Aleck Rodriguez bringing in one run each. Paderborn stormed back scoring six runs in the third making it a 7-2 ballgame. Domenic Rauwolf drove in two runs off a single in the inning. Brownsville would tie the game in the sixth thanks to Rodriguez and Jose Jimenez bringing in runs. 

On the mound for Paderborn was Jan-Luca Vogt, giving up five hits, six runs with two strikeouts through four and two-thirds an inning. Kenny Fermin Giere threw one inning of shutout relief, giving up zero hits as will. Edwin Zuniga Jr. started for Brownsville, allowing three hits, five runs with one strikeout in two innings.

Paderborn will move on to play Southern Illinois tonight at 5:00pm in Game sixteen. As for Brownsville, they have been eliminated from this year's Colt League World Series.

Game Thirteen

Youngstown, Ohio - 11,  Marion, Illinois - 3

Youngstown defeated Marion in Game Twelve of the 2023 Colt League World Series by a score of 11-3, with Dawson Wallace leading the way for Youngstown with four hits in four at bats. 

Marion got on the board first in the second after a Youngstown error. Youngstown would strike back in the fourth after Gabriel Rusnack and Logan Cypher each brought in one run. Youngstown led 6-2 in the top of the fifth after scoring on an error and Wallace and Cypher again brining in runs. Youngstown would total 13 hits on the day, Cypher and Wallace leading with three RBI's each. Aiden Lavritzen and Will True collected two hits each for Marion in the loss.

On the mound, Carter Wilson made the start for Youngstown, allowing five hits, two runs and striking out nine batters through five and a third innings pitched. Will Fox started for Marion, allowing five hits, four runs and seven strikeouts through four and a third innings pitched. 

Youngstown moves onto Game Seventeen and will await the winner between Chiba, Japan and Marion who play at 2:00pm today in Game Fifteen.

Game Twelve

Rio Grande Valley, Texas - 3, Southern Illinois - 4

Rio Grande Valley, TX was defeated by Southern Illinois, 3-4 in Game Twelve of the 2023 Colt League World Series.

Rio Grande Valley got on the board first in the first innings after Ivan Marron Jr brought in two runs off a single and Jeremiah Vela drew a walk, bringing in a run. Southern Illinois tied the game in the third after a Nick Hubbard single. Southern Illinois would take the lead after scoring a run in the fourth.

On the mound, Fabinizio Sainas led things off for Rio Grande Valley, allowing four hits, three runs and striking out three batters through two innings. Ruben Lopez came in for relief, pitching four innings allowing three hits, one run and striking out two. Logan Ingle started for Southern Illinois, allowing four hits, three runs and one strikeout in two innings.

Rio Grande Valley will move on to play Paderborn, Germany in Game Fourteen today at 11:00AM. Southern Illinois will await the winner of that game and will play in Game Sixteen at 5:00pm.

Game Eleven

Chiba, Japan - 7, Tijuana, Mexico- 4

Chiba, JP defeated Tijuana in Game Eleven of the 2023 Colt League World Series, 7-4. Chiba struck first with a So Fujita single, scoring one run. Tijuana would strike back in the fourth with a Diego Angulo sacrifice fly bring in one run, and Carlos Castaneda stole home. Ryunosuke Kanatani doubled for Chiba, tying the game in the seventh.

In the top of the tenth, in extra innings, Fujita broke the tie with an RBI single. Youta Inoue tripled, helping extend the lead to 7-3.

Hayato Okinishi started on the mound for Chiba, giving up six hits, two runs and striking out two in four innings. Yuta Takara came in for four and two-thirds innings of relief, striking out two, allowing five hits and one run. Ivan Nevarez started on the mound for Tijuana, giving up four hits, two runs, and striking out five in five innings.

Chiba totaled 10 hits on the day, Fujita, Kanatani, Rea Matsumoto and Inoue each collecting two hits.  Inoue led Chiba in RBI's with three helpung lead his team to victory. Tijuana totaled 13 hits in the game, with Erik Castillo going 4 for 5 at the plate. 

Chiba will move on to play in Game Fifteen and will await the loser of Game Eleven. For Tijuana, they have been eliminated from the 2023 Colt League World Series

Game Ten

Paderborn, Germany - 5, Santa Monica, California - 2

Paderborn, DE defeated Santa Monica, CA by a score of 5-2 in Game Ten of the 2023 Colt League World Series. Paderborn got out to an early start Lasse Nixdorf, Owen Fierlbeck, Felix Stroll and Domenic Rauwolf each brought in one run. Paderborn added another un in the second after Kenny Giere stole home, making it a 5-0 game. On the mound , Finn Keuper started for Paderborn, allowing seven hits, two runs and striking out four Santa Monica batters through six innings. Fermin Giee pitched one shutout inning of relief. For Santa Monica, Edward Maxam started on the mound, allowing five hits, four runs and no strikeouts through two-thirds of an inning.
 Giere helped set the tone for Paderborn at the number two position in the order, leading with two hits in four at bats. Garrett Boyd was the hit leader for Santa Monica, going three for four at the plate. Eli Altamarino and Elijah Horn brought in the lone runs for Santa Monica.
Paderborn moves onto Game Fourteen tomorrow at 11:00am against the loser of Game 12 between Rio Grade Valley, Texas and Southern Illinois. For Santa Monica, they are the third team to be eliminated from the 2023 Colt League World Series.

 

Game Nine

Greensboro, North Carolina - 18, Aroma Park, Illinois - 1

Greensboro, NC defeated Aroma Park, IL by a score of 18-1 in Game Nine of the 2023 Colt League World Series, with Greensboro jumping out to an early 5 run lead courtesy of Clay Rosser, bringing in two runs and Quinn Woolford bringing in one run. Greensboro added to their lead in the third with a 2 RBI double from Fredrick Harrelson, along with Jack Rippy and Jake Bowden brining in one run each.

Greensboro scored six runs off of just three hits in the fourth with Gage Griffiths, Harrelson, and Woolford drawing walks that scored a run each, Gaven Davis singled bringing in another run and Landon Moser bringing in two runs off a single.

Tate Andrews started off on the mound for Greensboro, allowing two hits, one run, and striking out four batters in four innings pitched.  Byron Sumrall started for Aroma Park, allowing four hits, eight runs, and three strikeouts in one inning pitched.

Greensboro totaled eleven hits, with Rippy leading the team going 2 for 3 on the day. Woolford and Rippy each brought in three runs, with Caiden McNeil leading in base on balls. Preston Harrington-Dewitt and Sumrall led Aroma Park with one hit each.


Game Eight

Tijuana, Mexico - 0 , Marion, Illinois - 6

Tijuana, MX is defeated by Marion, IL by a score of 0-6 in Game Eight of the 2023 Colt League World Series thanks in part to four fifth inning runs. Noah Nix threw a complete game shutout for Marion

Marion got on the board in the bottom of the first inning after a Noah Nix walk brought in a run along with a wild pitch that brough in another run. Ivan Nevarez and Erik Castillo led the way for Tijuana, each with one hit. Defensively, Tijuana was sure-handed by not giving a single error in the game.  For Marion, Jack Harre went 3 for 4 at the plate, Chase Miemeyer led his team with 2 RBI's. 

On the mound for Tijuana, Pablo Lopez started the day going four innings allowing four hits, three runs  and four strikeouts. Nix would make the start for Marion, allowing just two hits, no runs with six strikeouts through seven innings.

Tijuana will move on to play in Game Eleven against Chiba, Japan at 2:00pm today. As for Marion, they will play in Game Thirteen against Youngstown, Ohio tonight at 8:00pm

Game Seven

Rio Grande Valley, Texas - 10, Santa Monica, California - 4

Rio Grande Valley, TX defeats Santa Monica, CA by a score of 10-4 in Game Seven of the 2023 Colt League World Series, securing their lead brining in nine runs in the fourth inning . Joshua Ruiz Jr., Deondre Rodriguez, Jorge Garza Jr., Fabinizio Sainas each brought in one run, with Ruben Lopez and Ivan Marron Jr bringing in multiple runs during the inning. 
Lopez opened up the game with a single, scoring one run to get an early Rio Grande Valley lead. Santa Monica would answer back with a Garrett Boyd single bringing in a run in the third. 
Garza Jr. made the start on the mound for Rio Grande Valley, surrendering two hits, one run, and striking out five batters in four innings.  Aleck Rodriguez, Ruiz Jr, and Edwin Zuniga Jr all came in for relief for Rio Grande Valley. For Santa Monica, Gabriel Campbell made the start, allowing eight hits, five runs and striking out just one batter in three innings.
Rio Grande Valley will move onto Game Twelve today at 5:00PM against Southern Illinois. Santa Monica will move on to play Paderborn, Germany in Game 10 today at 11:30AM

Game Six

Chiba, Japan - 23, Aroma Park, Illinois - 0

Chiba, JP defeated Aroma, IL by a score of 23-0 in Game Six of the 2023 Colt League World Series, with 12 of Chiba's runs coming in the second inning. Fuma Tanaka and Rea Matsumoto brought in two runs each in the second, with Ryunosuke Kanatani, Touma Sasaki, So Fujita, Asuki Toyonaga, Youta Inoue scoring one run each. Chiba would add 11 more runs to their lead in third off of just four hits.

Hanuki Dan started on the mound for Chiba, allowing one hit and no runs with two strikeouts in one and a third innings pitched. Kousuke singaki pitched one and a third innings of relief allowing not hits during his time on the mound. Devin Arbour made the start for Aroma Park, allowing four hits, five runs, with no strikeouts in one inning on the bump. 

Chiba collected 14 hits on the day as a team with Tanaka and Inoue being the RBI leaders, each bringing in three runs each. Chiba totaled seven walks and six stolen bases on the day. For Aroma Park, Dylan Denoyer lead the team at the plate with one hit in one at bat.

Chiba, JP will move on to play in Game Eleven tomorrow at 2:00pm against the loser of Game Eight between Marion, IL and Tijuana, MX. For Aroma Park, IL they will play in Game Nine tomorrow against Greensboro, NC at 8:00AM.

 

Game Five

Greensboro, North Carolina - 6, Paderborn, Germany - 10

Greensboro, NC couldn't keep up with Paderborn, DE losing 6-10 in Game Five of the 2023 Colt League World Series. Paderborn got an early lead due to a Greensboro error that allowed a run to score. In the second inning, Jakob Huber, Lasse Nixdorf, and Owen Fierlbeck brought in one run each. Greensboro would tie the game in the top of the fifth with Hudson Deel, Tate Andrews, Fredrick Harrelson, and Cooper Marks helping fight back. 

Carter Matthews started the day for Greensboro on the mound, allowing four hits, five runs and striking out one in one and a third innings pitched. Deel would come in for three and a third innings pitched, allowing two hits, three runs and no strikeouts. Jona Wildmann would start for Paderborn, allowing three hits, three runs and striking out three through four and two-thirds innings on the bump.

Paderborn will move onto play in Game Ten tomorrow at 11:00am and will await the loser of Game Seven between Santa Monica, CA and Rio Grande Valley. For Greensboro, they will move on to Game Nine tomorrow at 8:00am against Aroma Park, IL.

Game Four

Southern Illinois - 8, Paderborn, Germany - 7

Southern Illinois defeated Paderborn, Germany by a score of 8-7 in Game Four of the 2023 Colt League World Series. Paderborn jumped out to an early 3-1 lead in the first after a Owen Fierlbeck single. Southern IL would take the lead back in the third inning Drew Barrington, Gavin Holloman, and Talan Nemeth each brought in a run. 

Brandon Menser started for Southern, allowing three hits, three runs and striking out four in two innings on the bump. Brady Philips came in to pitch three and two-thirds innings of relief ball, allowing one hit, no runs and striking out four. Paul Hoff started for Paderborn, allowing one hit and four runs with three strikeouts in two and two-thirds an inning pitched.

Holloman, Anthony, Bauman, Harrel, Barrington, and Logan Ingle each drove a run in Southern Illinois. Southern Illinois will move onto Game Twelve and will await the winner of Game 7 between Santa Monica, CA and Rio Grande Valley, TX. As for Paderborn, they will play in Game Five against Greensboro, NC at 9:00AM.

Game Three

Youngstown, Ohio - 18, Aroma Park, Illinois - 3

Youngstown, OH defeated Aroma Park, IL by a score of 18-3 in Game Three of the 2023 Colt League World Series. Youngstown got off to an early 7-0 lead in the first. In the third inning, Logan Cypher drove tripled, driving in three runs. Jacob Hayes, Jacob Rynd, and Rowan Urbach combined for six of Youngstown's twelve hits, they were also responsible for driving in four runs and scoring five.

Dawson Wallace started off the game for Youngstown on the mound, giving up one hit, zero runs and striking out three batters in over two innings pithed,  Bryson Zirwas came in for two innings of relief, surrendering no hits and striking out four. Byron Willis started for Aroma Park, allowing two hits, six runs with one strikeout in one-third an inning pitched.

Dylan Denoyer, Preston Harrington-Dewitt, Bryce Deany, and Willis each drove in one hit for Aroma Park. Aroma Park will move onto Game Seven against Chiba, Japan today at 1:00PM. For Youngstown, they move onto Game Thirteen against the winner of Game Eight between Marion, Illinois and Tijuana, Mexico.

Game Two Recap

Tijuana, Mexico - 6, Chiba, Japan - 0

Tijuana, MX defeated Chiba, JP by a score of 6-0 in Game Two of the 2023 Colt League World Series. Tijuana would get on the board first in the fourth inning after Santiago Duarte hit into a fielder's choice, brining in one run. Tijuana would put up four runs in the fifth inning, Arturo Ramirez and Duarte brining in two runs each.

Isaac Molina opened the game for Tijuana, surrendered no hits and no runs with five strikeouts in four and two-thirds innings. Luis Martinez came in for relief to pitch two and two-thirds innings of shutout ball, allowing just one hit. Hanuki Dan started for Chiba, allowing one hit, no runs and striking out no batters in one and two-thirds innings.

Ramirez and Abraham Martinez were a force, collecting two hits each for Tijuana. Tijuana will play Marion, Illinois in Game Eight at 9:00PM today. For Chiba, they will play Aroma Park, Illinois in Game Six today at 1:00PM

Game One Recap

Rio Grande Valley, Texas - 10, Greensboro, North Carolina - 2

Rio Grande Valley, TX defeated Greensboro, NC 10-2 in Game One of the 2023 Colt League World Series, with Rio Grande Valley striking first after a Greensboro error, Jeremiah Vela single, Deondre Rodriguez single, and Javier Del Toro singling, each scoring a run. Rio Grande Valley added to their lead in the second after a Jorge Garza Jr. single drove in two runs along with a Austin Bazan double bringing in another run.

Victor Beltran started the game on the mound for Rio Grande Valley, allowing three hits, two runs and no strikeouts through two and two-thirds innings pitched. Jaime Palacios came in for four innings of relief for Rio Grande Valley. Palacios struck out five Greensboro batters, allowing three hits and no runs. Clay Rosser would start on the mound for Greensboro, striking out three batters, allowing seven hits and seven runs.

Rio Grande Valley totaled 13 hits on the day, Rodriguez led the team with three hits in four at-bats. Garza Jr. and Ruiz Jr. drove in three runs, leading the team.  Greensboro totaled 6 hits on the day, with Hudson Deel leading the team in RBI's with two. 

Rio Grande Valley will move on to play Santa Monica, California in Game Seven tomorrow at 3:00PM. For Greensboro, they will move onto Game Five at 9:00AM and will play the loser of Southern Illinois and Paderborn, Germany
