The first ever Colt World Series was held in Marion, Illinois at Rent One Park on August 3-8. The tournament included the defending champions (The Netherlands) and the defending Pony World Series champions (Covina, California), as well as four other teams making their first appearances. First-year competitor Southern Illinois ignited the hometown crowd in their two close-call victories, while South Zone Champion Brownsville, Texas won three games, including a loser's bracket elimination game over the Netherlands. However, the Asia-Pacific Zone Champion, Seoul, Korea and Caribbean Zone Champion, Levittown, Puerto Rico that made it to the championship game. Korea powered through the tournament with their pitching and base-running. Meanwhile, the Puerto Ricans were completely unstoppable. The final game had fans on the edge of the seats as it came down to one final out and the Puerto Ricans World Series title with a 5-4 victory.
